For years I would franken my own polish with clear polish and eye shadow and glitter. I would be so proud that I created the polish I was wearing and it was so fun creating these unique colors. Then one day I discovered the indie world. That was like a black hole for me, I fell in and got lost! It started as a fun hobby to create for myself and my friends and it quickly became a business to share my awesome creations with everyone!
2. What was the inspiration for the name "Kitty Polish"?
I named Kitty Polish after my cat Kitty. It just made sense to name my brand after the coolest cat ever. She gets all the credit and sleeps all day, I do all the work. It is a win-win for us.
3. What inspires your collections (or where do you look for inspiration)?
I am inspired by all things pretty!
What inspired your latest collection?
My newest collection is the Best Friends duo and it consists of two amazing colors! They are inspired by best friend. When I created them I showed her to get her approval. We both agreed that they were a perfect match and they belonged together, like best friends.

I cannot say too much about what will be coming, but it will be packed full of sparkle!!
4. Do you have a favorite mainstream brand?
My favorite mainstream brand is China Glaze. China Glaze was my first polish I bought as a collection and could possibly be blamed for the start of my love of polish. I also tend to wear my China Glaze polishes more than any other brand.
5. What are your go-to products for nail/cuticle care?
I am new to the proper for my nails. I have been documenting my progress on my blog in hopes to grow my nails out. I do not have a go-to just yet, because I may switch up products a few times until I find the right stuff.

My favorite color is pink. Nine times out of ten my nails will be pink! My favorite summer colors are pink glitters. The more sparkle the better. For fall I love love love a burnt orange.
7. This may be hard--but which are your 3 favorite creations so far?
The first favorite creation is “Love” from my Inspiration trio. Like I mentioned before I have a weakness for pink and Love is my all time favorite shade of pink and it sparkles. My second favorite is “Hang 10” from my Beach Bum collection. When I wear it I catch myself looking at my nails for a long time. My third favorite is the Vanilla scented topcoat. It is like wearing perfume on your nails, and since it is super shiny it makes my manicure even more awesome.
8. Do you have any other hobbies?
I am a stay at home mom of a very energetic two year old. My other hobbies include play dates, singing songs from Bubble Guppies, and arts and crafts. Nail Polish is my chance to be creative and have some adult time.
9. What is your most favorite thing about being a new indie maker?
When I receive feedback from customers. It makes me so happy to hear that people are enjoying a product I made!

It is not easy. I test all of my ingredients and sometimes they do not work out as desired. This can be frustrating. When a polish is created and it looks amazing and applies perfectly and then after testing one of the ingredients fails I feel defeated. I just have to work through those moments and recreate it in a different way.

It will cost triple what you expected. Triple the money investment, time investment, emotional investment.

Absolutely! It is not easy and there are plenty of things that could go wrong and will go wrong, but it is part of the experience. I love having my own business.

Favorite beauty item besides polish : Eyeliner! I will not leave the house without it on!
Favorite fragrance : Anything Vanilla!
Favorite vacation destination : Visiting family and friends that live all over the country. I would rather visit than vacation any day.
Favorite candy : Butterfinger
Favorite celebrity : Any celeb that does a reality show. I am a sucker for those shows and I love to get a glimpse into their lives, and the drama is fun to watch too.
Favorite family member or friend (you can pick one of each) : Favorite family member is my daughter Ella. She is really social, makes me laugh, and is probably the smartest two year old I have ever met. Not to mention she is really cute. My favorite friend is my best friend Brooke. We have spent more time living in different states than in the same state together over the last 19 years we have known each other. But she and I have a bond that is like no other, we are more like sisters than friends.
Most recent read : The only books I have time to read these days are children’s books, but I do read a ton of them!
Most recent movie you loved : Frozen. It is played non stop in my house, I either have to love it or suffer through it.
Favorite TV show and character : Favorite show is The Walking Dead Favorite character is Daryl, if they ever kill him off I am boycotting the show!
If you won a million dollars, first thing you would buy is : Pay off debt, yes I know boring but I need to be responsible!
