Hi there, my darlings! You know, as a blogger, I'm constantly being surprised by the innovations and advancements in the world of beauty, even in the area of cosmetic procedures. Gone are the days when you had to schedule a procedure for your skin at an often expensive spa or doctor's office, take a day or more off and then spend a bunch of days recovering from it. Now, you can do so many of these procedures yourself in the comfort of your own home! I mean, laser hair removal, teeth whitening and even microdermabrasion can be done safely and effectively at home. Today's post deals with one such product that I've been testing for the last 3 weeks and which I'm already really impressed with--PMD's Personal Microderm.

So, what is this device I speak of?

The Personal Microderm is a revolutionary at-home skincare tool that provides the same brilliant results as professional, in-office microdermabrasion treatments. By combining the power of Patented Spinning Disc Technology and Perfectly Calibrated Vacuum Suction, the Personal Microderm works to remove the dead, dull skin cell barrier, increase blood flow, and stimulate the body’s natural production of collagen and elastin.

The Personal Microderm combines the power of Patented Spinning Disc Technology with a Perfectly Calibrated Vacuum Suction to brighten, smooth, and even skin tone and texture. The Personal Microderm reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, blemishes, and enlarged pores. After a treatment, makeup goes on smoother and skin care penetrates significantly deeper – 20X deeper.

I have to admit, when I opened the box, I was a little nervous. The device looks...intense and I was convinced that it would hurt like all heck! And it IS my face I'd be testing the product on after all! But, PMD offers a veritable plethora of information that's included in each box and before I did anything at all, I sat down and read the instruction manual front to back. The instructions were simple and really helped calm my nerves!

There was really very little to the set-up. Each box comes with several removable cylindrical discs--you choose the disc best suited for your skin type, with white for the mildest treatment and black for the most intense. It's recommended that no matter what, you should begin with a test on your neck or inner elbow and ALWAYS start off with the white disc for your first treatment.

There are separate discs for your face and body--the longer, narrower ones are for your face while the shorter, wider ones are suitable for other areas of your body. Here's a closer look :

Once you've chosen the right disc for you, it's a matter of unscrewing the top portion and firmly inserting the disc. I started off with the white as recommended and worked my way up to the blue disc. Take a look :

Then once the disc is inserted and you make sure it doesn't move around, screw the clear outer portion back on.

The device is powered by electricity, NOT batteries, and has a power cord included in the box. It's then operated by a simple ON/OFF toggle, which is great because you don't want to mess with complicated settings and switches when you're treating your face!

So what did I think of it? I'm really impressed--in fact, my first thought after looking in the mirror just after I finished my last treatment was WOW. My main concern with my skin and the reason I wanted to try this device out is the scars left from a careless teenage phase of picking at acne--they are not horrible by any means but I've always been self-conscious of them. Now, since I've only been using the device for about 3 weeks, the BEFORE and AFTER pics aren't dramatic but I can definitely tell that my acne scars are getting lighter and my skin FEELS better.

LEFT, BEFORE : After a long, long day at work, trying not to fall asleep
RIGHT, MORNING AFTER MY THIRD TREATMENT : No sleep but my skin looks better right

Although the device does not hurt per se, you will feel the pressure of the suction and some mild tingling afterwards. Do remember to NOT pass the device over the same area more than twice--I did that mistakenly a couple of times and those areas were NOT happy with me. I, personally, experienced a little redness in certain areas the next morning but nothing upsetting. Overall, a simple, easy-to-use device that I plan to use consistently for many months to come. Pesky acne scars, BEGONE!

LEFT : BEFORE 3RD TREATMENT
RIGHT : AFTER THIRD TREATMENT

Hi there, my darlings! So, you know when you come across a product that you really love and that really works for you, your first thought is to immediately hoard it in massive quantities in case the end of the world happens or the zombie apocalypse or something? Today's post is pretty much about that feeling! As part of our featured series, the ladies of Ever After Polish sent me a couple of bath and both products--a little cuticle/hand crelli in the Fruit Cake scent and a mani crumble in Twigs and Berries.

I had recently run out of my expensive Perlier hand cream and had been actively looking for a new, more affordable hand cream so after a particularly long night of swatching, I decided to give this crelli a whirl. I scooped a little of this cream and rubbed it in. And...BAM! Just like that, an obsession was born! Just look at how much I used up in just 2 short weeks! Rich, thick and luxurious these super moisturizing crellis are a hybrid between and cream and a pertroleum jelly--they don't absorb as quickly as a water-based lotion or cream but they hydrate your skin so well! Just perfect for deep moisturizing while you sleep.

Realizing that I really had to stock up on this stuff, I frantically contacted Rachel and asked to purchase three of her seasonal scents in the large sizes. Let's take a peek at my choices!

1. Brown Sugar Fig : Rich brown sugar blended with sweet, ripe fig.

This is a subtly sweet, fruity blend that's at once warm and inviting. I like it a lot but wish the fruitiness was a little more pronounced.

2. Big City Apple : Green apple balanced with sweet sugared candy.

This luscious fruity scent is the real deal--no artificial, cloyingly sweet scent with this one! It smells like if you just cut into a fresh, juicy green apple! So crisp and refreshing!

3. Grandma's Fruit Cake : Candied Fruit Spices Cake and Liquor just like grandma made.

This is the scent that started it all! I cannot even begin to tell you all how much I love this scent! Fruit cake, as a dessert, is so maligned! I, for one, LOVE fruit cake and this scent totally took me back to my teenage years in India, where they made the BEST fruit cake for the Holiday season! Warm, cozy and rich with a hint of that boozy undertone, this scent is to die for!

4. Hot Buttered Rum : Baking vanilla and simmered rum, topped with fresh whipped cream.

The ladies also sent me a wee little sample of the Hot Buttered Rum scent and guess what? I may just need to pick some of this up too! These scents are just so perfect for this season!

Finally, the ladies also included a large sample of her mani crumble in the scent Twigs and Berries in my review package. Described as "rich currant blended with soft woods, cinnamon and a hint of peach and orange", this is a woodsy sort of scent, not truly floral or fruity but earthier. I'm still undecided as to if I love it or hate it--I'll leave that for an update after a good soak for my feet!

So there you have it, my darlings! You can find a whole host of hand/cuticle crellis, mani crumbles and bombs on Ever After Polish's website HERE--prices vary by product.

Hi there, my darlings! By now, my regular readers probably know me quite well and know that one of the ways I like to de-stress is through Aromatherapy. There's certain scents that just make me happy after a long work week! So, recently when I came across the opportunity to review a selection of essentials oils from a new-to-me brand, I took one look at their site and all but jumped at the chance. Today, I'd like to share with you all my experience with 3 essential oils of my choice and a body lotion from Via Nature--an all-natural personal skincare brand that's dedicated to bringing the best of science and nature. They have a rather large selection of essential oils, some I haven't seen anywhere else, so immediately I went for the more unusual scents!

1. 100% Pure Essential Oil : Geranium

Aroma: Subtly Sweet, Floral.
Benefits: Soothing, Mood-Lifting, Balancing.

At first whiff, I was sure this was going to be my fave but after awhile, the intensely sweet floral scent can get a little cloying. Use sparingly and if possible, with another earthier essential oil mixed in.

100% Pure Essential Oil : Bergamot

Aroma: Sweet, Fruity.
Benefits: Lively, Inspiring, Uplifting.

My personal favorite of the 3 I chose, this is a beautiful scent for those who like fruity or floral scents. I love it both in my diffuser and mixed in a spray as an air freshener!

100% Pure Essential Oil : Ylang Ylang

Aroma: Pleasant, Floral.
Benefits: Sensual, Euphoric.

I have to admit this one did NOT work for me. It's an earthier, more herbaceous scent which I personally did not like much. Goes to show that sometimes different is not always better!

I also chose to test the Hydrating Skin Lotion in Swiss Apple :

DNA damage occurs as we age and neglect our skin, but also from simply being exposed to the sun. This damage happens deep within the skin’s layers, but the good news is that scientific advancements in the power of naturally derived ingredients offer more effective solutions every day. Plant stem cells engage with your skin on a cellular level, peptides fight the effects of aging, Omega 3,6,7,9 essential complexes boost skin’s immunity and Hyaluronic Acid moisturizes. With Via Nature, you have an arsenal of nature’s best health and beauty tools at your disposal. Looking great has never felt this good.

With Peptides & Rosehip Oil
For Normal to Dry Skin

Now, this product I fell in love with...and hard! Luxurious and rich yet fast-absorbing, I loved how well-hydrated my skin felt after each use. And don't even get me started on the scent! Love it so much! Fruity and refreshing without being overwhelming. Huge thumbs up from me!

So there you have it, my darlings! You can take your pick of a wide range of essentials oil or browse their skincare section HERE--prices are really quite reasonable.

Speaking of sweet tooth, I think this week's featured Lynnderella will remind you of all the goodies waiting for you during the Holidays--Peach GlacĂ©e is a beauty and can be procured through an Ebay auction.

Peach GlacĂ©e is a "is a translucent peach loaded with multishimmer, yellow and aqua nano flakes and blue iridescence." No complaints at all with the formula and application--this applied just beautifully. The swatches below show 2 thin, thin coats over Zoya Eden topped with 1 generous coat of Glisten & Glow's HK Girl. Lynn's shimmers, after her microglitters, are fast becoming some of my faves--I mean, lots of pinks/peaches don't love me or my complexion but I love the way this looks on my tan skin!
