EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW with Tahlia of TRIPLE SEVEN POLISH

FOREWORD :

Hi there, my darlings! As part of the FRIEND-AN-INDIE-FRIDAY featured giveaways, I'll also be posting a review of some of the new brand's creations as well as an exclusive interview with each maker, so people can get a little glimpse into the world of the face behind the brand! Today, I present Tahlia of Triple Seven Polish!! Read on for into the woman behind the brand!

1. How did you first get into making polish?
I have always been artsy, but I don't always "feel" it. I started getting that antsy (not artsy) feeling, like I needed to get my creative juices flowing again, so it was either art/painting or polish. My reasoning against painting was that it is expensive and that it took up space - which is pretty much what making polish is all about. At least this way I can share my passion for mixing colors with someone else.

2. What was the inspiration for the name Triple Seven Polish?
There are two factors. The most simple of the two is that long before I learned that seven was actually considered a lucky number, I called it my favorite number. The second is because I absolutely love visiting Las Vegas. It's my Disneyland, but with better food and I have a chance of winning back some of my money.

3. What inspires your collections (or where do you look for inspiration)? Everything and anywhere! I don't go anywhere without my creative goggles on. My world has never been this vivid.
Any hints/ideas about upcoming collections? Along with individual releases, I have ideas brewing for duo sets.

4. Do you have a favorite indie maker(s)? Favorite mainstream brand?
To be fair, I haven't ventured too far into indies...which is strange, right? My first indie was Model City Polish and it has remained one of my favorites. I also have a little collection going of Aly's Dream Polish.
My favorite mainstream would have to be Zoya...the formula of their cremes is perfection and there are so many colors to choose from.

5. What are your go-to products for nail/cuticle care?
This is funny because I'm still learning how to care for my nails and cuticles properly. I hear about all these products and truly feel overwhelmed - what will work for me, what won't? (much like any beauty product). So far, Pure Nail Oil has been the one product that I've invested in that has shown the best results...and even still it's difficult to protect them from getting roughed up daily.

6. What are your favorite colors? In general? For summer? For fall?
Dark or bright blues and purples. I gravitate toward nudes and browns, as well. Depending on the hue, any of these colors can be worn no matter the season.

7. This may be hard--but which are your 3 favorite creations so far?
It IS hard! Thank goodness I don't have a long list to narrow down. I'll go with Dusk Till Dawn from the Winter colors, Smoke & Mirrors from the Spring colors and the unnamed Nude holographic that's in its testing phase.

8. Do you have any other hobbies?
Painting, photography (not just swatches) and small-scale DIY projects.

9. What is your most favorite thing about being a new indie maker? When customers share their happiness over receiving and/or wearing, something I made.

What are some of the challenges? The amount of people doing (almost) exactly what I'm doing can be a bit overwhelming. Then I remind myself that I didn't do this to take over the polish world.

What advice would you give to people considering starting their own brand? Don't rush into it. There's a lot to learn and research is invaluable. Even if you're hobby selling, you're still operating a business - the planning, implementation and details you put into it will show.

Overall, are you happy with your decision to get into the indie polish world? It has its rewards.
