MILANI Spring 2014 collection : Swatches and Review (PART I)

Hi, my darlings! Guess what? The daylight bulb that I ordered recently to help with more color-accurate swatches for cremes and pastels finally showed up at the end of last week so now I have lovely, natural lighting to showcase some polishes I've been holding onto while I waited for it! Remember I told you about the gigantic package of polishes that landed up on my doorstep from Milani Cosmetics? I showed you just a couple of the beauties in that package HERE and today I have the entire Spring 2014 collection from Milani to show you!

The Spring 2014 collection consists of 6 gorgeous, vibrant cremes and 6 pretty glitter topcoats--perfect to mix-and-match for new and unique manis every day of the week! I paired up each creme with one of the topcoats I felt would look best with it and I can't wait to show you the results! Since I have a penchant for LOTS of pictures, I split up this collection into two posts--each post will showcase 3 cremes and the glitter topcoat I used to accentuate each!

Before we get right to swatches, let's talk about formula and application! Across the board and except for a couple of minor exceptions which will be noted as we go along, I found these polishes to be of a creamy, smooth consistency and very easy-to-use--again, I absolutely love the new, flat brush that was just wide enough to paint the nail in easy strokes without making a mess! I used 2 coats of each creme by itself and I found them to self-level out quite nicely once they dried--no streaks, no patches! For the glitter topcoats, I used just ONE generous, heavy-handed coat which I dabbed on, then topped with 1 thin coat of G&G's HK Girl to bring it all together!

With all that said, let's get right into swatches, shall we?

Showy Seagreen is a medium green creme polish. For all you green lovers, I bet you want to add this one to your stash for Spring? =)

Sugar Rush is clear glitter topcoat full of light orange, light green, white and holographic medium hexes. I don't know why but this look totally reminded me of an Easter Egg!

Popping Pink is a bright pink creme polish. I saw this one in the bottle and was afraid that it would NOT look good on my complexion...but it surprised me! I ended up loving how it looked!

Sugar Rim is a clear glitter topcoat full of teeny, tiny matte glitters in various colors accented with slightly larger light blue hexes and a sprinkling of silver shards. So pretty, right?

Vivid Violet is a dark lavender/medium violet purple creme polish. This was one of my favorites of this collection! I absolutely LOVE this particular shade!

Sugar Cane is clear glitter topcoat full of purple and magenta microslices accented with various sizes of matte white hexes. This was not one of my favorites--I found the formula to be a little too thick and the bar glitter had a tendency to clump together, making application a bit of a challenge.

So there you have it, my darlings! The first 6 polishes from Milani's Spring 2014 collection! These are available on Milani Cosmetic's online site HERE for the fab price of $4.99 each! You can also pick them up at select drugstore/retailers such as CVS, Walgreens and Duane Reade. Please remember to follow Milani Cosmetics on FACEBOOK and INSTAGRAM for all the latest news and updates!

Which of these 6 is calling YOUR names? As always, I'd love to hear from you in the comments section below!

Stay tuned for Part II of Milani's Spring 2014 collection immediately following this post!

Until next time,
