EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW with Carolyn of LIQUID SKY LACQUER

Hi my darlings! As promised, I have an exclusive interview with the wonderful Carolyn from Liquid Sky Lacquer! Despite still being in college, Carolyn finds the time to create gorgeous polishes in her spare time and we share a penchant for amazing holos--she creates them, I swatch them and we both adore them! During the course of my correspondence with her, we got to chatting about things other than polish and I just knew I wanted to interview her for the blog! She happily agreed so I have for you today a glimpse into the world of Carolyn, a seriously great girl and the maker of Liquid Sky Lacquer! Read on, dear readers--I promise her answers will make you smile!!

1. How did you first get into making polish?
INSTAGRAM!!  I started just doing my nails, quit biting them, and saw some people were making polish, so I wanted to as well.  How original is that!

2. What was the inspiration for the name "Liquid Sky Lacquer"?
"Liquid Sky" is another name for heroin, so it fit with my new found addiction to polish.

 3. What inspires your collections? What inspired your latest collection? Any hints about upcoming collections?
Inspiration?  Life! Music, Nature, holidays, seasons, favorite characters...you name it, I get inspired.  Currently working on the Fall Collection, The Halloween Collection, The Holiday Collection, Marisa Lander (neo pop singer featuring my polish), Butterfly Collection, and Katy Perry collections....all in the works. Marisa Lander and Fall collections are the soon to be released ones.

Liquid Sky Lacquer's workshop!

4. Do you have a favorite indie maker(s)? Favorite mainstream brand?
PolishAddict!  Love  her stuff, but I also love, Lynnderella, KBShimmer, and Freak Show Polish.  Mainstream...OPI, Zoya, Essie.

 5. What are your go-to products for nail/cuticle care?
LemonyFlutter by Lush for cuticle care and Blue Cuticle Remover, A glass nail file, Orly Nail Defense for Base coat and Seche Vite for Top Coat.

6. What are your favorite colors? In general? For summer? For fall?
Blues and purples, but I think rainbows for all seasons.

7. This may be hard--but which are your 3 favorite creations?
Angel Dust, TGIF, and Like A Boss...All my favs, but not always my best sellers.  If I make something I feel so-so about....it turns into a hit!  So I've learned to stay very open-minded.

8. Do you have any other hobbies?
School...is that a hobby?  Just started my junior year of college, polish making is my escape.

 9. What is your most favorite thing about being an indie maker? What do you least like? What advice would you give to new indie makers?
Creating things people like!  Stress!!! But I spent the summer organizing more so it's less now. Don't be afraid to experiment and don't listen to those self-important people who try to shut you down and shake your confidence.

10. Fun facts :
Astrological sign : Gemini
Favorite comfort food : Chicken Tikka Masala
Favorite beauty item besides polish : My hair dyes!  Must have colored hair (teal and purple at the mo)
Favorite fragrance : Where to Start... Nina Ricci, Harajuku Lover, Love; and so many others.
Favorite vacation destination : Hawaii!!
Favorite candy : Almond Joy at the moment, it changes weekly!
Favorite celebrity : Katy Perry!!
Favorite family member or friend (you can pick one of each) : MOM!! (she'd kill me if I didn't say her)  My boyfriend, Malcolm (he'd kill me if I didn't say him).
Most recent read : Crap!  I need to read the freshman assigned book!(I'm a peer mentor, so I need to read their junk too, ugh). Crank, by Ellen Hopkins.
Most recent movie you loved : A Mile In His Shoes...loved it!
Favorite TV show and character : Bones, main character is my favorite!  I can totally relate to her.  I don't get the same things that she doesn't get ("why is everyone laughing?"  "Because it's funny, Bones").
If you won a million dollars, first thing you would buy is : I don't think I'd buy, but pay for my college tuition, right through grad school.

So there you have it! Carolyn of Liquid Sky Lacquer, in a nutshell!
