MUST-HAVE FOR LIPSTICK LOVERS: URBAN DECAY Blackmail Vice lipstick palette

Hi there, my darlings! You know, blogging is an endless stream of discovery for me, and hopefully, for you too! Every day, I'm introduced to a new brand that's doing big things and it's my privilege to be able to share my discoveries with all of you. But, before I started blogging, there was just a handful of brands that I was familiar with, brands that started it all, products that fueled my love of all things beauty. It's safe to say that Urban Decay is definitely one of them. Oh, who am I kidding?! UD is not only one of the OG brands in my stash but working with them has been #goals even before hashtags were trendy. I've loved the brand and its products, in particular the Vice eyeshadow palettes and lipsticks , ever since I stumbled across the brand on Facebook way back in the day. So, you can imagine my excitement when I connected with UD and got the news that a package was winging its way to me. Inside, something that could not be more perfect for me--the new Blackmail lipstick palette!

If you haven't seen this palette on social media, here's a little bit about it:

BLACKMAIL Vice Lipstick Palette ($35)

When it comes to our creamy, addictive Vice Lipstick, too much is never enough. Indulge your vice with a DOZEN shades from our massive collection—from neutral to bright, dark to light.

Ideal for travel (it even includes a retractable lip brush), this super-sleek palette was made for experimentation. Been toying with trying a new shade but weren’t ready to commit? With our Blackmail Vice Lipstick Palette, now you’ve got no excuse. Keep your options open without having to weigh down your makeup bag. Use the included brush to layer or mix shades; it’s ideal for contouring or creating added depth and dimension.

Engineered with real life in mind, this palette makes it easy to apply on the go. We designed the wells with a special stair-step effect that’s perfect for wiping any excess lipstick off the brush (and keeping the lipstick in its compartment, not all over the palette). When you’re done applying, flip the attached cover on top of the lipstick wells to keep the shades protected and the compact free of messes. As practical as this palette is, it’s also beautiful—and guaranteed to elicit oohs and ahs when you pull this baby out of your makeup bag! The luxurious metallized gunmetal case has gold accents, just like our Vice Lipstick case.

Packaged in what is indeed a sleek palette, I love that it has a shield! Not only is the shield ideal for keeping the lipsticks safe and secure from dustings of all the other makeup you may be using but it's an ideal little surface to rest your liners and brushes on while you work on your face. No need to put them on the counter and such!

No matter what you’re in the mood for, this limited-edition palette has it all. Experiment with 12 unique shades and ALL SIX finishes of Vice Lipstick in this one set. You’ll never run out of options. Haven’t tried Vice Lipstick yet? The pigment load is insane! Just one swipe provides a BIG laydown of color. Every shade applies smoothly (without dragging or skipping), hugs lips, and feels amazing.

This is the Vice Lipstick formula you know and love, just poured into a palette. Our proprietary Pigment Infusion System™ gives each shade its super-creamy texture, rich payout and superior color dispersion. Yummy Butter Blend comforts, hydrates and enhances, leaving lips soft and conditioned, never dry.

Shades Included:

Top row, left to right:

  • Sheer Shame (Sheer): berry
  • Firebird (Cream): deep fuchsia
  • Big Bang (Metallized): bright pink sparkle
  • Disobedient (Cream): medium pink
  • EZ (Cream): bright red-orange
  • 714 (Mega Matte): bright red

Bottom row, left to right:

  • Vanished (Sheer): pale neutral nude
  • 1993 (Comfort Matte): medium brown
  • Ex-Girlfriend (Sheer Shimmer): nude-rose w/pink shimmer
  • Amulet (Metallized): metallic brick rose
  • Conspiracy (Metallized): plum-bronze shimmer
  • Blackmail (Comfort Matte): deep berry wine

As much as I love eyeshadow palettes, admittedly, I usually steer clear of lipstick palettes because out of a dozen shades, I usually like 1 or 2. Which just seems like such a waste. I'd rather just pick and choose the colors I like and invest in those. It's a rare thing then, that I like 75% of the shades in this palette! Except for Disobedient and maybe Vanished, I can see myself wearing every other shade! At this price point, that's a pretty good deal!

Here's a look at all 12 shades, in the order that they are in the palette itself!

Top row, left to right:
  • Sheer Shame (Sheer): berry
  • Firebird (Cream): deep fuchsia
  • Big Bang (Metallized): bright pink sparkle
  • Disobedient (Cream): medium pink
  • EZ (Cream): bright red-orange
  • 714 (Mega Matte): bright red

Bottom row, left to right:
  • Vanished (Sheer): pale neutral nude
  • 1993 (Comfort Matte): medium brown
  • Ex-Girlfriend (Sheer Shimmer): nude-rose w/pink shimmer
  • Amulet (Metallized): metallic brick rose
  • Conspiracy (Metallized): plum-bronze shimmer
  • Blackmail (Comfort Matte): deep berry wine

Not only do you get a range of shades, but you get to try out a range of finishes from the sheer of Sheer Shame to the Matte of Blackmail. It really was pretty hard to pick favorites with this palette!

The one other thing I want to mention is the brush. Most lipstick brushes in lipstick palettes are pretty useless, if you know what I mean. Either they're tiny or the bristles are just not good for applying lipstick evenly. I was really quite impressed with the precision, softness and design of this one. Just to be sure, I made sure to swatch all the 12 shades using only the brush!

And what good is a macro lens in one's possession if not for a close-up? Just look at the sparkle of Big Bang!

Finally, here's a close-up look at my faves! Clockwise from top left, Sheer Shame, Firebird, 714, Blackmail and Amulet.

So there you have it, my darlings! You can pick up the fabulous Blackmail Vice lipstick palette on Urban Decay's site HERE for the price of $22.00-such a steal! You can also find them at Sephora, both in-store and online.
