CUPCAKE POLISH The Olympics collection : Swatches and Review

Hi there, my darlings! TGIF, huh?! I've been on a break of sorts--school's out for the summer and I'm exploring new employment opportunities. Let me tell you, job searching is NOT fun. And the days have begun to kinda blur together. But the one really bright side to this pause in life is that I have lots of time for my favorite things--sleep, cooking, watching movies and working on fun stuff for the blog! This Friday, I spent immersed in the joys of one of my favorite indies--I'm talking about Cupcake Polish and her upcoming collection! Inspired by its namesake, taking place in Brazil this year, the Olympics collection is all about bright, vibrant colors that truly embody the spirit of the country. Ah Brazil, you're on my bucket list and I'll be sure to take these beauties with me when I go!

Before we get to swatches, let's take a minute to talk about the formula and application of these six holographic polishes. Across the board, as with almost ALL of Sara's polishes, each applied smoothly and was perfectly opaque in just 2 easy coats...actually, no, let me correct myself. ALMOST all were perfectly opaque in 2 coats because...2, possibly 3, out of the six was a ONE-COATER! Yup! There are a couple of unicorns in this collection!  These holos are incredibly pigmented and a bit thicker so you really don't need very much for full opacity and because they dry pretty darn fast, these are just perfect for busy summer schedules--the swatches below show 2 easy coats, except for those unicorns, topped with 1 thin coat of Glisten & Glow's HK Girl topcoat to finish the look. In fact, I swatched one of them, fell in love and couldn't bear to take it off but dishes had to be done. Well, half hour and a clean sink later, my mani is still perfect! Intrigued? Let's take a look at them then, shall we?

Row Me to the Gold is a bright, sunshiny yellow with a strong linear holographic finish. I was for sure expecting this to be a three coater but nope! 2 easy coats of perfect summer yellow!

I'm a Soccer for Green is a bright, limey green with a strong linear holographic finish. Ok, this is not only a pretty green but I LOVE the name! How cute is that?!

Not My Vault is a dusty tangerine orange with a strong linear holographic finish. Another one that will be great for those summer manis!

Pool It Together is a rich aqua blue with a strong linear holographic finish. Here's the first of the one-coaters...one coat, people, JUST ONE! Now, if staining worries you, fret not! I have none to report! Isn't it the most gorgeous blue ever?!

Track Me Down is a midnight black with a strong linear holographic finish. Another perfect, easy one coater! I can't wait to try some nail art with this baby!

One in a Brazil-ion is a vibrant coral with a strong linear holographic finish. My fave from this collection, I couldn't bear to take it off! Coral is one of my go-to shades for summer and this one is pure perfection! And, if you tend to paint a little thicker, I bet you could get away with one coat with this one too!

So there you have it, my darlings! The Olympics collection will be launching this Sunday, July 10th at 12 pm CST/1 pm EST on Cupcake Polish's website HERE for the price of $13 for a full-size, 0.5 oz bottle.

  1. Great idea for a collection. I'd love the black holo. I've been in the mood for that kind of shade and now I see where I can get it.

  6. I Think I Have Already Told You This but Cupcake Polish is By Far One of My Absolute Favorite Nail Polish Brands! There Colors are So Pigmented, Bright, Vivid, & Shimmery Like I Like My Polishes! I Wish I could Afford to Buy All the Cupcake Polishes Really b/c I'm that Crazy About Them! I Don't Think I Could Pick a Favorite b/c I Love Every One of Them Especially the Yellow/Gold Color & I Usually Hate Yellow Polish (Well on Me Anyways, b/c of My Really Fair Skin!) You Always Paint Your Nails So beautifully, I Know Most People Think There's Nothing to Putting a Couple of Coats of Polish on but I Guarantee if I Painted MY Nails They Would Look Nothing Like Your Painted Nails b/c Mine are Just Mediocre at Best... LOL! Anyways Great Post & Thanks for Letting Me See All of the New Polish Colors Coming Out! Have a Blessed Day My Friend! - Jana
