THE HOLO HOOKUP collaboration box for October 2016 : Swatches and Review

Hi there, my darlings! So, October is my birth month! Yup! Proud Libra here! Now those of you who read the blog regularly know that I have a penchant for certain colors and I firmly believe that the next installment of The Holo Hookup was created with me in mind! Lol! Ok, ok, but let me just tell you that this coming month's shades are not only stunning but totally ME! The theme for October 2016's all-holo The Holo Hookup collaboration box featuring Jill of Glisten & Glow, Missi of Different Dimension, Sara of Cupcake Polish and special guest, Starrily is aptly titled "Clue: The Mystery". Take a look at their inspiration pic and you'll immediately know why!

Before we get to swatches, let's take a minute to talk about the formula and application of these four holographic polishes. Now, with most months, I break down the formula and application for each polish individually as we go along. We're doing things a little differently this month because I noticed a theme with these four. Across the board, not only did each richly pigmented polish apply just beautifully but by most accounts, all four could totally be one-coaters! I tend to paint pretty thin coats but even then each polish was just a teensy bit shy of being a one-coater. If you tend to paint generously, you have yourself four rich, vibrant, strongly holographic one-coaters! The swatches below show just 2 thin coats of each polish, topped with 1 thin coat of Glisten & Glow's HK Girl topcoat to finish the look. This box is a huge winner in so many ways! Let's take a look!

Mr. Green in the Lounge from Cupcake Polish is an "emerald colored linear holo with gold shimmers". Now, greens are not often my thing...with the exception of emeralds! I love jewel tones and this is the perfect emerald shade!

Professor Plum in the Conservatory from Different Dimension is a "plum linear holo with heavy orange shimmers". I collect berry/plum shades--there's just something about these colors I can't resist! This beauty is definitely a welcome and appreciated addition!

Mrs. Peacock in the Billiard Room from Glisten & Glow is a "dark blue linear holo with added gold and green shimmers and galaxy glitters". Not only is this a stunning, perfect peacock blue shade but I absolutely adore the galaxy glitters! Every time Jill adds them in, I swoon!

Miss Scarlett in the Ballroom from Starrily  is a "rich scarlet linear holo with a subtle hint of gold micro glitter". Now, unless I'm totally mistaken (and with a collection ranging in the thousands, I very well may be!), this is my very first Starrily! And wow, what a way to make introductions! I LOVE reds and this red is insanely gorgeous! Glowy, holo and bound to get you tons of compliments!

  5. This is probably the nicest box yet. The colors are delicious. I love the red and berry ones. I don't like green on me but I admit it's a beauty.
