Damage Control and Detoxing with L'OREAL!

Hi there, my darlings! Lately, my skin has just been...ugh. There's really no other way to put it. It's been either super greasy or breaking in these random, giant pimples overnight. At first, I thought it was just stress or just that time of the month. But, while I'm still fairly stressed (job searching is not easy!), my time of the month is over and still a new monstrosity popped up on my cheek just this yesterday morning. I can't figure it out so I'm going to blame the weather. Anyways, with my skin misbehaving so badly, I decided I needed a detox ASAP so I sat down to a little midnight "me" time last night. I knew I was going to be out and about today, so last night seemed like the perfect time for a little damage control. For last night's session, I chose two new products from L’Oréal. Now, when I think of L’Oréal, I think of obsession-worthy mascaras and fabulous lipsticks--I have to admit that skincare isn't the first thing that pops into my mind. But after last night that is sure to change! Here's a look at the two products that made me a believer!

REVITALIFT® Bright Reveal Brightening Daily Scrub Cleanser

Brightening Daily Scrub Cleanser. Gently Exfoliates and Reveals Radiance. Derm Inspired Ingredient: Glycolic.

Beyond wrinkles, dull, uneven tone can make skin look older. Skin’s natural ability to shed surface dead skin cells declines with age.

Brightening Daily Scrub Cleanser with gentle micro-pearls and Glycolic Acid, exfoliates dullness and impurities to improve skin tone, texture and clarity, revealing visibly brighter, more radiant skin.

Immediately: Brighter, more radiant and fresher skin is revealed. Skin is optimally prepared to absorb Bright Reveal treatments and moisturizers.

Over time: Brighter, more radiant and fresher skin is revealed. Skin is optimally prepared to absorb Bright Reveal treatments and moisturizers. Skin tone looks more even and renewed. Skin texture feels smoother, more refined.

Let me just start out by saying...I LOVE MICROBEADS! I have sensitive skin along with it being combination/oily and acne-prone so regular exfoliation becomes an absolute necessity. At the same time, too harsh of an exfoliator or even regular use of exfoliating devices can irritate my skin. As much as I love a couple of those exfoliating devices, I try not to use them daily. Yet, I feel that my tendency towards oiliness requires a daily exfoliator. So, I'm thrilled that this one is gentle enough to use on a daily basis. The micropearls are so tiny that they don't irritate my skin and after just one use, my skin just looked better! Cleaner, less greasy and just more refreshed. The Glycolic Acid addition makes it particularly suited for acne-prone skin like mine and so it should come as no surprise that this cleanser is now firmly a part of my daily skincare routine!

PURE-CLAY MASK Detox & Brighten Treatment Mask

Transform Skin in Just 10 Minutes. 3 Pure Clays and Charcoal. For Dull and Tired-looking Skin.

Indulgent. Transformative. Perfectly Clean. L’Oréal Paris Skin Experts have created a super-charged pure clay mask with the power and benefits of Charcoal to detoxify and illuminate your skin in just 10 minutes. Our indulgent and powerful formula for this detox face mask provides a luxurious experience while potent pure clays and charcoal act like a magnet to clean out poresand draw-out and capture deep impurities (such as dirt, oil, and pollution). This creamy, non-drying formula leaves skin feeling clean, velvety, and rebalanced. Detox and Brighten Pure-Clay Mask addresses your dull, tired skin to reveal a purified, even, and radiant complexion. Immediately, skin looks brighter with a healthy glow. Deep pore cleansing–dirt, dust and pollution are removed from skin. Skin’s complexion looks fresher and more even. Use After Use, skin is clean as if detoxified. Skin feels as though it can breathe better. Skin is healthy looking and more beautiful.

L’Oréal has recently launched 3 new Pure-Clay masks and I'll be sharing my thoughts on all 3 over the coming weeks. For last night's detox though, I immediately zoomed in on the Charcoal mask. Firstly, the mask claims to detox, hello! Secondly, and I hope all my oil skinned, acne-prone ladies are paying attention here, charcoal is your friend! Charcoal is Nature's super sponge--I mean like infomercial, can't-believe-your-eyes type of sponge. It soaks up EVERYTHING. So, all those impurities, dirt, dust, dead skin cells, oil, grease, whatnot--it all just vacuums out of your pores and off your face. Bless Charcoal!

Besides the power of charcoal, I really liked two things immediately about this mask--the price and the short time it takes. At under 13 bucks, you cannot beat the price! And at just 10-15 minutes per session, it can't work any faster! After cleansing my face thoroughly with the cleanser above, I slathered this mask on and played a word game on my phone for a bit. Two puzzles later, it as time to shower! Easy-peasy! And my skin looks and feels better as a result! Now. let's hope that giant planet on my face goes away after this!
Apply an even layer to clean dry skin, avoiding eye and lip area. Leave on for 10 to 15 minutes then remove with water. For best results use 3 times a week.

  1. I was a longtime user of the Revitalift Eye Cream, loved it! Earlier this year, Influenster sent me the new L'Oreal Revitalift Volumizing product line. Mostly clay masks are too drying for my dry skin, but I sure do love the look of this one!

  7. You girls all seriously don't know about how awful microbeads are yet?

    This is from CNN:

"President Obama signed a bipartisan bill that prohibits selling and distributing products containing microbeads. The bill is intended to protect the nation's waterways.
A microbead is any solid plastic particle that is less than 5 millimeters and is used for the purpose of exfoliating or cleansing, according to the bill.
These tiny plastic beads have become ubiquitous in hundreds of products ranging from body scrubs to toothpastes. They provide an exfoliating sensation for users and are designed to wash down drains.
But because they are made of plastic, microbeads do not dissolve and may pose a threat to the environment.
In September, a study published in Environmental Science & Technology reported that more than 8 trillion microbeads were entering the country's aquatic habitats daily. The volume was enough to coat the surface of 300 tennis courts every day.
Microbeads have contributed to a greater increase in microplastic polluting the planet's oceans and lakes, researchers say.
Not only are they hard to clean up because they are about the size of a pinhead, researchers say they are also posing a threat to aquatic life.
Some marine life mistake small plastic as food particles. Scientists are researching whether microplastics affect the health of marine life once ingested and if chemicals transfer to humans who eat those species later, according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.
