OODLES of Nail Art with WHATS UP NAILS Vinyls!

Hi there, my darlings! You know, art doesn't come easily to me. I've never painted or sketched or created beautiful home decor with dreams and duct tape. Nope, artistic endeavors usually escape me. Especially nail art. If you had asked me whether I would plan on featuring my own nail art when I first started blogging, I would have laughed uproariously and then answered with a resounding NO! Fast forward to a few months later and I found I started to dabble. Simple things at first, dotticures and such, Before I knew it, I had a nail art stash almost as large as my polish stash and the most surprising thing of all was that I really enjoyed it. Go figure! But inspiration still doesn't come easily to me. I check out the scores of super talented nail artists on Instagram and I'm in awe. Where do they come UP with these ideas?! A couple of months ago, I was once again stuck for inspiration and I decided to reach out to Whats Up Nails--they have a huge seection of vinyls and I needed all the help I could get. They graciously allowed me to choose 6 designs and I've been working on finding inspiration with them ever since. I really hope you like what I created!

1. ART DECO VINYLS:

The base of this design is Painted Polish Deux with OPI What's With The Cattitude and Smitten Polish, now known as Dreamland Lacquer, Maple Sugar Candy, all topped with 2 coats of Glisten & Glow's HK Girl topcoat.

When searching for inspiration for this look, I actually Googled Art Deco colors and found that this combination came pretty close! I love the intricacy of these vinyls, although seeding and then getting clean lines were a bit of a challenge for me. They do have very thin geometric lines but practice, a steady hand and cutting the vinyls at the edges do make it a bit easier. I'm gonna keep trying!

2. FEATHERS VINYLS:

The base for this look is Zoya Nail Polish Alicia topped with Liquid Sky Lacquer Black Magic, which is seriously such a fabulous, one-coat black holo! I then filled in the feathers with several of the OPI Color Paints before finishing with 1 thin coat of Glisten & Glow's HK Girl topcoat.

These vinyls were my favorite of the six! So easy to use, I love that one sheet has a variety of sizes so you can pick whichever fits best for you! I can confidently say I'll be playing with these again!

3. HYPNOSE VINYLS:

The base on the middle and ring fingers is 2 thin coats of Sally Hansen's new Big Primer basecoat with Cupcake Polish Water You Doing. I finished the look with 1 thin coat of Glisten & Glow's HK Girl topcoat and metal stud I picked up off Ebay,

I like to think of look as my ode to my drinking/partying days when my favorite treat was Hypnotiq. So deceptively smooth yet so addictive! These vinyls, I would say, are moderately easy--you do have to be careful to seed careful and not get the bits stuck to each other but once you have it up and on the nail, it couldn't be easier!

4. ROSES VINYLS:

The base of this is Cupcake Polish Bad Hare Day from the September 2016 The Holo Hookup box with Celestial Cosmetics The Devil's Concubine (coming soon to the blog!) and Firnen, topped with 1 thin coat of 1 thin coat of Glisten & Glow's HK Girl topcoat.

Another instant fave, I LOVE these Roses vinyls! Super easy to use and SO gorgeous, I plan on staying fully stocked on these. You know I have a penchant for floral nail art!

5. SPLATTER VINYLS:

The base is Glisten & Glow Wedding Gown White. Then I created decals with the vinyls and the entire Experience the Islands collection from Glisten & Glow, all topped with 2 thin coats of Glisten & Glow's HK Girl topcoat.

I admit it, it did take me quite a long while to make these decals and in hindsight, just using the vinyls straight on my nails would have been SO much easier. But! I did love having the option of strategically positioning the decals on my nails. The vinyls themselves were really easy to use--it was the cutting out the pieces that was the challenge. Still, totally worth it!

6. X PATTERN VINYLS:

The base is the now-defunct Virtuous Polish Humility (which I adore and I'm still heartbroken that the shop closed!) and China Glaze Turned Up Turquoise, topped with 1 coat of Sally Hansen's new Big Matte topcoat.

Another one with LOTS of intricate little lines so a clean removal was hard for me. I do think it's just a matter of practice though and I do LOVE both the color combination and the effect!

So there you have it, my darlings! You can find these among a huge selection of vinyl on Whats Up Nails' website HERE--prices start at $3.75 for 20 stencils/vinyls/
