Escape to an Ayurvedic Hair Spa in India with Darshana Beauty!

Hi there, my darlings! Let me just start off this post by saying...I LOVE social media! Before things got difficult and it became nearly impossible to reach my followers, I used to love Facebook. Now, you probably already know about my love affair with Instagram but recently, I've dipped my foot into the world of Twitter and it's quite amazing how interactive it is! One of the major perks of blogging and social media, for me personally, is the interaction. With all of you, with brands, with all kinds of new people! I'm a people person at heart! That's why I was so thrilled when Shana, the co-founder of Darshana Beauty reached out to me. Not only are her products ayurvedic with a whole slew of Indian products, but Shana herself is lovely! She sent over a picture of her extended family in India and immediately won my heart. So, it's with a lot of pleasure I introduce Darshana Beauty to all of you.

A little bit about the brand from Darius, the founder of Darshana Beauty:

Growing up, my father who was born and raised in India, always rubbed natural oils on his hair to moisturize and keep his hair healthy. As an adult, I never forgot my dad’s exotic hair care routine.

After spending some time in India with my wife exploring their beautiful country and culture, I noticed that Indian women have the most gorgeous, thick, and healthy hair I had ever seen.

One day back at home, while waiting for my haircut and looking at all the products on the shelf, it hit me like a ton of bricks.

Why is there no quality hair oil available for everyone?

Ever since then my wife and I have made it our mission to share India’s ancient hair care secret with the West.

Darshana Natural Indian Hair oil was born!

Shana sent me their signature Indian hair oil as well as their latest products, the moisturizing shampoo and conditioner to try out!

  • For all hair and scalp types

With my hair's tendency to get really greasy, really fast towards the crown, I usually steer clear of moisturizing shampoo, instead preferring a good voluminizing formula. I have a LOT of hair and I really don't want to deal with a lot of weighed down hair on top of that. So, I did have that niggling doubt when I took these on a whirl.

I have to admit though, I was really pleasantly surprised! The formula is indeed moisturizing such that my hair felt soft and silky after use, without feeling heavy or weighed down. The shampoo lathers well and left my scalp refreshingly clean. The conditioner is a rich, luxurious formula without being TOO thick or gloopy. I was able to rinse them both out of my hair easily, with little to no residue.

I have used the duo a couple of times now but last night was the real test. It's been raining all morning and I left my hair to airdry. I was fully prepared to wake up to poufy, wild hair but my hair is much less frizzy and still so soft!

Here's another added plus. Growing up as a teen in India, I've experienced my share of ayurvedic products. As great as they are for your skin and hair, the scent often leaves much to be desired. They inevitably smell...earthy or herbal or both. Not exactly the fragrance of choice for a girl who loves her florals. So, I steeled myself for the inevitable with this duo...and was totally blown away! Not only do these NOT smell earthy or herbal or any of that but when they say citrus scent, they mean it! The citrus scent is bright and refreshing, with no underlying aroma of herbs in there. My hair smells SO good!

Natural Indian Hair Oil:
  • Best Indian Hair Oil on the market!
  • No mineral oil, parabens, sulfates, silicone, artificial color or animal testing
  • Moisturizes, conditions, and smoothes hair
  • Revitalizes dry, damaged, or frizzy hair
  • Natural Indian Ayurvedic formula
  • Contains Antioxidants, Omega 3-6-9, and Vitamins A-B-C-E
  • Makes hair appear, softer, shinier, and healthier
  • Absorbs quickly and controls frizz
  • No mineral oil, parabens, sulfates, silicone, artificial color or animal testing
  • Natural alternative for long term hair care
  • Fresh citrus scent

First of all, how cute is it that Shana and Darius sent a personalized bottle?! Brands taking the time to include a short note or sign their products like shown below never cease to endear them to me. That little bit of an extra touch goes a long way!

When I read Darius' description of his Indian-born father's hair-care routine, I had to chuckle to myself. Hair oil is an ubiquitous staple in every Indian household. All the older generation uses it...and the younger generation avoids it like the plague. Mainly for two reasons: the strong herbal smell mentioned above and the greasiness that hair oil often leaves behind, despite washing vigorously. With this hair oil, you get all the benefits of the amazing natural ingredients like extracts from coconut and castor oils, without any of the hassle. While it's recommended that you apply the oil and leave on for 30 minutes to overnight, I just used a little on my ends while I stood soaping up in the shower. The combination of the steamy shower and the oil left my roots much happier!

So there you have it, my darlings! You can pick the shampoo-conditioner duo and the hair oil on Darshana Beauty's HERE. I bet they will be really appreciated once Winter rolls in!

  6. This sounds really nice. Here in Hawaii, the hair oil could be a huge thing back in the day too... more so other polynesian islands. But definitely something used often. I stick with my coconut oil and usually put only enough for moisture. lol ;)
