HOLIDAY GIFTING FOR A CAUSE WITH NOGU

Hi there, my darlings! With the holidays right around the corner, it's time to focus on the best holiday gifts ideas that come across my desk/inbox. Since moving to Toronto, I am personally very invested in finding out more about local Canadian brands and supporting them. Recently, I had the pleasure of discovering a brand that is not only designed in Toronto but also has a truly heartwarming story and cause associated with it. It's my absolute pleasure to share NOGU, an inspirational design studio for unique jewellery pieces founded by two brothers who overcame their own health challenges to be able to give back meaningfully to several charitable causes.

About NOGU

FOUNDED BY MARIO CHRISTIAN & LUCA DANIEL THE AWARD WINNING FAMILY OF BRANDS THAT INCLUDE JOSEPH NOGUCCI, NOGU & DANIEL CHRISTIAN TANG EXPLORE A MULTI-DISCIPLINARY APPROACH TO FASHION & ACCESSORIES DESIGN.

“DESIGN IS DESIGN, REGARDLESS THE MEDIUM. WHETHER YOU’RE DESIGNING A MUSEUM OR A BRACELET, THE ARTISTIC PROCESS IS THE SAME” - MARIO CHRISTIAN

BOTH DIAGNOSED WITH CYSTIC FIBROSIS AT BIRTH, BROTHERS MARIO & LUCA GREW UP WITH A VERY UNIQUE PERSPECTIVE ON LIFE, TIME AND THE PURSUIT OF THEIR DREAMS.

IT MADE THEM WANT TO LIVE THEIR LIVES WITH A VERY CLEAR AND DISTINCT JOIE DE VIVRE. DON’T STRESS OUT ON THE LITTLE THINGS. FOLLOW YOUR PASSIONS, TRY AND TRAVEL THE WORLD WHEN YOU CAN AND JUST DO WHAT MAKES YOU HAPPY.

THESE BELIEFS PUSHED THEM INTO CHALLENGING CAREERS THEY LOVED, ARCHITECTURE FOR MARIO AND ENGINEERING FOR LUCA. THIS EVENTUALLY LED THEM TO DIRECT THEIR PASSION FOR DESIGN INTO SOMETHING THAT COULD BE ENJOYED BY MANY AND NOT FEW.

HOLDING NOTHING BACK THEY TRAVELED THE WORLD, WHEN HEALTH WAS ON THEIR SIDE, FINISHED DEGREES IN ARCHITECTURE AND ENGINEERING AND EVENTUALLY FOUNDED JOSEPH NOGUCCI, A FASHION DESIGN FIRM GROUNDED IN THE TENETS OF CAREFREE LIVING, SPIRITUALITY, WHIMSICALITY AND ADVENTURE.

NOGU x CYSTIC FIBROSIS CANADA: KITE BRACELET ($26.95 USD, ON SALE)

FREE Suede Polishing Gift Pouch

Mario and Luca Lavorato are the brothers behind the designs of every NOGU Jewelry piece. They also live with cystic fibrosis, a genetic disease for which there is no cure. By purchasing this bracelet, you are not only supporting Mario and Luca’s love of creating genuine, high-quality jewelry, you are also helping Cystic Fibrosis Canada invest in vital care, innovation and research to find a cure for cystic fibrosis, so that the Lavorato brothers can continue to make the world beautiful.

The NOGU Crystal Kite Charm Bracelets are hand-crafted from 4mm beads and are hand-strung on a clear elastic cord. The Kite bracelets are available in silver, gold, rose gold, or black gunmetal finishes and a selection of colorfully enamelled or all metallic crystal studded Kite charms. With their stretchable clear elastic cord, the bracelets are one-size-fits-most.

Now, I'm usually not a huge fan of delicate charms and bracelets, instead preferring the bolder, chunkier designs found in India. But, right from the moment I opened the box, I have to say I was quite taken by this little charm. It IS very pretty but I think the symbolism behind the piece resonated deeper with me. The little kite symbolizes Freedom, Possibility and Hope and as we leave a few challenging years behind, we could all use a little more of all of the above.

So there you have it, my darlings! You can find this and many other beautiful designs on NOGU's website HERE--shipping is available all throughout the US, Canada and internationally.
