Although available in a huge range of 44 shades, I will be sharing my thoughts on 4 that I have been testing for the past couple of weeks. L'Absolu Rouge lipsticks are available in 3 finishes--matte, cream and sheer--and I had the opportunity to test all 3 finishes.
Before we begin, let's talk about the packaging! Now, as you may know, I'm a bargain shopper and love finding a good deal. But, I'm also a firm believer in treating yourself or a loved one to a special, luxury product every now again. Especially if that product happens to be a unique fragrance or a killer shade of lipstick! Sure, my bargain lippies are very beloved but there's just something about a lipstick in chic, luxurious packaging like Lancôme .
Sleekly encased in black, accented with a gorgeous gold, these lipsticks would be a beautiful addition to any beauty-lover's vanity. I particularly love the etched rose on the top and Lancôme's logo etched prettily on the lipstick itself. These lipsticks are also quite innovative in that you click the rose on top and the lipstick itself pops out. Once done, you click it securely back. No worry of ruining your perfect shade in your makeup bag!
Now, when I first posted a teaser of these on my Instagram, I promised you a thorough review and that's what I aimed for the past couple of weeks. In an attempt to do that, I'll share my experience with each of the three finishes:
1. MATTE (Shown below in Berry Noir and Rose Lancôme): These mattes are not as matte as, say, a liquid lipstick. There are advantages and disadvantages to that. The advantages, from my experience, include a much more comfortable texture and much less drying for the lips. The disadvantages are that wear time is shorter--about 6 hours in my experience. Pigmentation, though, was still very impressive.
2. CREAM (Shown below in Caprice): I don't wear creams much but I absolutely love this bright, intense red. Yes, this wears off during the day and I did end up re-applying a couple of times but the rich, flattering color and ease of wear was worth it! I recommend using a lip liner, though, to check any bleeds in check.
3. SHEER (Shown below in Nuit & Jour): This shade didn't quite do it for me. This is not a very flattering nude for me, tending to wash out my complexion. The sheer formula, too, tends to wear off quite easily. But if you are of a fair complexion and like a hint of color, then you would enjoy wearing the Sheers.
Favorites: Definitely Berry Noir and Caprice, followed very closely by Rose Lancôme. I didn't really pick a fave this time, now, did I?!

Those are beautiful shades. While the sheer one initially interested me I can see that it's not much of a color on its own though it might spark up another shade.
