Summer Lifesavers from PIXI BEAUTY

Hi there, my darlings! So, it's September...but the heat just doesn't quit! Especially in this part of the world! You haven't experienced heat until you have lived through the mind-numbing Summer heat of a tropical country! I survived it...but just barely! As a beauty blogger obsessed with makeup, I all but gave up wearing any, sticking with the barest essentials. Unless a special occasion came up and this year saw plenty, as I spent time with my family after many, many years away. On those occasions, I made sure to doll up but the ever-present heat posed a challenge. What did I do, what did I reach for to make things easier for myself? I'm all about exfoliation and matte lippies during the Summers so I really don't know how I survived without a good lip scrub in my life. So, I'm incredibly happy to have found this one this year! Not only does it leave my lips feeling softer and smoother but my lipsticks, particularly the mattes, go on easier and stay on longer after I have freshly exfoliated. Definitely a welcome addition to my skincare and makeup prep routine!

Available in 5 shades, I tested the shade, Baby Petal, which much like its name, is a soft, light baby pink. Perfect to add the barest flush of color to your cheeks and lips before running out the door. Although a little too light for my skin tone, this particular shade would be beautiful on fairer complexions. I do love the convenience factor as well as the easy application and blending of this so I can't wait to add a couple of the darker shades to my stash!

QUICK FIX POWDER ($20.00)

Luxe no-colour finishing powder for a soft-focus finish.

• Invisible & lightweight, this powder creates a velvet matte, perfected look
• Buff on top of makeup to set & blend, or on bare skin for an air-brushed effect

As someone with combination skin that's prone to breakouts, Summers mean lots and lots of excessive oil production. I mean, I could fry an omelette on my T-zone! To try to combat getting super greasy, I only use a light BB cream, rather than foundation, and a setting powder on the particularly troublesome areas. I'm really enjoying this one, which is light with a very pleasing texture that goes on smooth and quickly absorbs any excess oil or product after I apply makeup. I toss it in my purse for quick touch-ups when I'm out and about--just a quick dusting on and then off does wonders to keep the oiliness at bay.


TIP: Want to set your cream lipstick or gloss into a perfect matte? Just hold a tissue over your lips after applying the lipstick of your choice and dust some of this powder over the tissue. It will absorb the oils/gloss and leave your lips with all the color! A easy hack I've been using for years!

MAKEUP FIXING MIST ($15.00)

All-over setting spray for longer-wearing makeup
