theBALM How About Them Apples? from BEAUTYSPIN.COM

Hi there, my darlings! As a lot of you may have guessed from reading my past posts, I REALLY am not a fan of summer! While everyone is laying about soaking in the sun and getting their tan on, I'm usually whining about the heat with the air-conditioner on max. But if there's one thing that redeems summer in my eyes, it's that I can bust out all the bright shades. Nothing flatters a tan complexion than a bright swipe of blush on the cheek or a bright matte lippie. So, recently when the lovely people over at Beautyspin.com offered to send me another product of my choice to review on the blog, I decided to try a palette full of bright cream blushes--theBalm How About Them Apples?

IMPRESSIONS : Before I show you swatches of this fabulous little palette, let's take a minute to talk about the packaging. theBalm is known for the cutest packaging and creatively named products--this one is no different! How About Them Apples? is an adorable, compact, little 6 blush palette with shades named Cider, Cobbler, Pie, Crisp, Candy and Caramel. The palette snaps shut like a little book and is incredibly travel-friendly--in fact, this is the ONLY palette of blushes I've brought with me to India!

As for the shades, they're mainly bright, warm shades that are perfect for a summer tan. Don't be intimidated by the cream formula--although super pigmented, they are very blendable so you can apply just a little or amp up the brightness as you see fit. I usually dab on a little with the tips of my fingers and then blend with my Beauty Blender--the cream formula is seamless and oh-so-smooth! The swatches below are on the back of my hand :

FROM THE TOP LEFT : Cider, Cobbler, Pie, Crisp, Candy and Caramel.

If I had to pick two favorites from this palette, I'd have to go with Pie and Crisp. Pie is such a flattering rose shade while the shimmer in Crisp makes it the perfect highlighter/brightening blush! The swatches in this pic below are on the inside of my arm:

LEFT TO RIGHT : Cider, Cobbler, Pie, Crisp, Candy and Caramel.

So there you have it, my darlings! If you would like to add theBalm's How About Them Apples? to your stash or pick it up for a loved one, you can find it for a steal on Beautyspin.com HERE.

  2. Every single shade is so gorgeous! There are almost always colors that I wouldn't wear in palettes, and yet I can see myself actually wearing all of these!

  4. This is so cute! I wonder how these would work as lippies - theBalm's cheek and lip creams from their face palettes seem to hold up well on the lips.

  9. I must have gotten a dud because the palette I had was so hard to work with. The cream blushes were difficult to apply. I wish I'd returned it for another but I bought it from Hautelook and they don't do returns if used.

  11. You're not alone, I loathe summer with so much passion. I can't stand humidity, heatwave and all!!!!! If not for summer makeups, I'm doomed. Pun intended.
