NEW FOR EYES FROM ALMAY!

Hi there, my darlings! TGIF! I literally don't even know where this week even went...is it almost April already?! Wherever did March go?! Anyways...I'm going to be working on a contract for the next couple of weeks (yay, income!) and this feeling of the days rushing by is going to become all too familiar! Especially since I have to wake up bright and early in the morning. So, I'm taking full advantage of this week, and the upcoming weekend, to get blog posts squared away. I mean, Spring is here and I have much I have been saving to share. First up, let's check out some new goodies from Almay!

SHADOW SQUAD ($6.99 USD/$8.97 CAD)
  • Your favorite shades, in each of four finishes: matte, satin, metallic, glitter
  • Mix it up in monochrome
  • Soft texture for beautiful color payoff
Available in 15 adorable little quads, I have Thrillseeker shown below.

I love this concept! If you gravitate towards certain shades, like I do, you'll love these monochromatic palettes. Apllication-wise, I really liked the metallic and glitter finishes which were pretty easy to work with and, while they start out quite subtle, they allow you to layer on for a bolder, richer effect. The satin and mattes? Well, they left a little to be desired. There was a bit of fallout out and I found I spent a good amount of time blending and layering to get the desired effect for these swatches. Nonetheless, I'm totally willing to try a bunch more of these travel-friendly quads!

PALETTE POPS EYESHADOW ($14.99 USD/$14.26 CAD on sale at Walmart)
  • 9 shades in 1 palette
  • Use wet for more POP!
  • Layer, blend and mix for limitless looks

Available in 2 color schemes, I have Fabulista shown below.

This was an interesting palette for me in that I was undecided, even after swatches, if I liked it or not. Still am, to be honest. I have zero complaints about the formula of these shadows--in fact, both mattes and shimmers were surprisingly easy to work with. Mattes, in particular, can be a bear sometimes but these applied beautifully. Still, I wasn't completely sold...with a name like Fabulista, I expected more richly pigmented or bolder colors. It's a pretty enough palette, especially for the price and most especially with those last three, darker shades, but I can't say I'd be reaching for this one very often.

VELVET FOIL CREAM SHADOW ($7.99 USD/$8.97 CAD)

Make it metallic with NEW Almay Velvet Foil Cream Shadow. Wear each shade individually or combine for a dramatic customized eye look. Quick and easy application – apply with fingertips or an eyeshadow brush. No shadow fall-out during application.
  • Cream eyeshadow in a fun paint tube format
  • Long wear formula – up to 24 Hour wear
  • High intensity color
  • Crease-proof, smudge-proof, fade-proof all day
  • Infused with Vitamin E and a botanical blend of ingredients.

Available in 10 (although Walmart seems to show only 9) shades, from left to right, I have Golden Vibes, Lunar Disco and Silver Lining (missing on Walmart) shown below.

    ***BONUS***
MAKE THEM JELLY HI-LITE ($14.99 USD exclusively at Ulta/$12.46 CAD, older shade, at Walmart)
    • Jelly highlighter that illuminates and shimmers, giving you a celestial glow.
    • Iridescent glitter sheen complements all skin tones
    • Instantly illuminates and adds moisture to skin
    • Buildable highlight for customized level of radiance
    • As always, hypoallergenic & fragrance free
    Pro Tips!
    • Brush onto cheekbones and the bridge of your nose for an iridescent gleam
    • Apply to collarbones and shoulders to make them pop
    • Mix with moisturizer or primer for an all-over glow
    • Add to foundation for customized radiance

Available in (at least) 3 shades (of which two of the newest shades are exclusive to Ulta), I have 24K Dreams shown below.

Here's where the going gets good...and I mean, really good! Starting with the Velvet Foil shadows, right off the bat, I was very pleasantly surprised with just how little product you need! A little goes a long way with these babies and you still get killer color-payoff. Yes, they are THAT pigmented. As for application, velvet in the name should say it all and yes, it totally lives up to its name. These go on smooth as velvet and dry to a finish that will NOT budge. Huge fan of these!

Now, coming to the jelly highlighter, I know it's technically not an eye makeup product, but hey! I can absolutely see myself reaching for this one as not only a highlighter but a subtle eyeshadow...an eye-lighter, if you will. Pardon my penchant for puns! The formula is light and easily blended, application was just lovely, and really, I am quite taken with this!

So there you have it, my darlings! You can grab these gorgeous glosses in select retailers and drugstores across the US AND Canada, such as Ulta and Walmart.

      1. I haven't bought Almay in ages. I do like the idea of the 4 shade palette though so I'll look for those. The 9 shade palette would probably show up better on lighter skin. I wondered about the cream e/s since I had some from Almay years ago and loved them. I'll have to see what colors are available now.

      3. Almaty used to be my client so I have a soft spot for them. But I love the aqua quad, and I am a fan of cream shadows - I will definitely check out those tubes. Congrats on your new contract!
