Hi there, my darlings! As part of the current indie featured giveaway with Dainty Digits Polish, I will be posting a review of the brand's latest collection soon, which also happens to be the prize choice in our giveaway! So, stay tuned! But in the meantime, here's an exclusive interview with the maker, so people can get a little glimpse into the world of the face behind the brand! How can one get to know a brand without getting to know the maker a little, right? So, I present to you my interview with NeNe (Anetress) of Dainty Digits Polish! Read on for a peek into the woman behind the brand!

1. How did you first get into making polish?

I'm a licensed nail tech by trade and it started out as an experiment. About 5 years ago, I needed a particular color, for a client, so I mixed a couple of existing colors. I hadn't even heard of "Frankening" yet, but I was doing it! My friend and coworker saw me making my own holos (I wanted Halo Hues, but they were sold out 😳 , so she kept pushing me to produce and sell my creations. I was very reluctant, due to previous disappointments, but she wouldn't let up! Once she got to agree, she made sure that I: 1.) Come up with a name to go by & 2.) Name my premier collection. Holos are my favorite, so "The Galaxy Collection" came to be my classification for all of my holos. I tossed around a few names and Dainty Digits Polish was born!

2. What was the inspiration for the name "DAINTY DIGITS POLISH"? Is there a story behind the name?

Is there a story behind the name? So, my first thought for a name for "Fancy Phalanges", but it was taken. So, I played around and came up with "Dainty Digits", but it was taken as well. I didn't feel like venturing into another spin on the name. I decided to see who had it before me and I ended up becoming friends with Cherise, the owner of @daintydigits87. The rest is history.

3. What inspires your collections (or where do you look for inspiration)? What inspired your latest collection? Any hints/ideas about upcoming collections?

Oh wow, I'm inspired by so many things, like music or pop culture. A simple walk down a grocery aisle has inspired me before! Sometimes, I'm shocked by random inspiration. I just let it flow. I honestly try to be as original as possible. What inspired your latest collection? I wanted to do something that I hadn't seen yet, so I made a combo of my favorite polish types: holo, neons & crèmes. So, the "Rainbow Gelato Collex " was in the making. Any hints/ideas about upcoming collections? I'm planning a collaboration with @kathleenandcofor July 4th, set to debut in June. I also have plans for an Indie-Versary special release in August to commemorate my 3rd year as an Indie. I'm also setting up future collabs with fellow Indies, in the near future.

4. Do you have a favorite indie maker(s)? Favorite mainstream brand?

Oh wow, I really love Polished Colors (Tasha), Jior Couture (Sacha), In The Name Of Polish (Kristen ), Daily Hues (Jen), I Am Custom Color (Ashes), Anonymous Lacquers (Mil) Kathleen And Co (Mia), and I recently experienced MDJ Creations (Melissa). These ladies are awesome! Favorite mainstream brand? Hmm, Orly, China Glaze, Sation (discontinued) and OPI.

5. What are your go-to products for nail/cuticle care?

Hmm, I try to stick with organic oils and butters. They're so necessary for vital skin care.

6. What are your favorite colors? In general? For summer? For fall?

I really love deep, rich colors. In general? Especially Hunter Green For summer? Brights/Neons come to mind. For fall? Earth Tones.

7. This may be hard--but which are your 3 favorite creations so far?

If I must choose on the spot, 'Nibiru', 'Tropic Of Capricorn' & 'Pastel PartyGirl'.

8. Do you have any other hobbies? Are you involved with any other clubs, associations, or recreational activities?

I'm a licensed nail tech of almost 6 years. I love everything nails and the ability to makeover 10 fingers! Are you involved with any other clubs, associations, or recreational activities? Not at the moment, I divide my time between doing nails and making polishes.

9. What is your most favorite thing about being an indie maker?

I love being able to have free range to create. It's the main reason for not starting out with a private label.
What are some of the challenges?

Being visible in an ever-growing Indie world. Also, trying to maintain originalty, for the very same reasons.
What advice would you give to people considering starting their own brand?

Be prepared to be "a little fish in a big Indie pond", but don't stop swimming! Perseverance keeps you in the race. Always let true creativity fuel you.
Overall, are you happy with your decision to get into the indie polish world?

Overall, are you happy with your decision to get into the indie polish world? Yes, I am. It's a creative outlet for me. It has turned me into quite the mix-ologist!😉
